A Library to Call Home

I am a big reader, so naturally, I have three full bookcases at my guest house in different rooms, ready for my guests to enjoy. 

 

My favorite books to read for relaxation are mystery novels. I travel quite a bit, and when visiting a new location, I always try to stop by the local bookstore and ask about mystery books written by local authors, often set in the area. If I really love a book, I write a little note inside it. My favorite ones are arranged on one shelf, and I also have many books that guests are welcome to take if they wish.

 

I also have books on local history (as this is a very historic area), general history, travel, geography, children’s books, games, special interests, biographies, and magazines.

 

I have always loved hotels or inns that feature libraries or reading rooms. A wall lined with books creates such a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Relax, enjoy, and feel free to take a book or leave one!

This was truly a quiet house with a nearby calming view of Lake Ontario. The decor was very tasteful and had a cottage feel. Given the age of the building and its uneven floors, the decor and welcoming atmosphere made is very inviting and comfortable. Coffee, tea and local information were among the welcoming features. We wished the building had a direct view of the water although it was just steps away. The upstairs bed was creaky and my 80 year old husband missed having a comfortable chair with a high back and footrest. We appreciate all that went into turning this older home into a welcome space.

My family and I stayed here for a week. Three kids aged 11-16 and our dog. We had a wonderful time! The home is in a perfect location, especially if you are doing lots of day trips. We did Buffalo, Six Flags Darien Lake, Toronto, and several trips to Niagara in NY and Canada. Devil’s Hole park is beautiful but those stairs are no joke on the legs! Fort Niagara State Park right next door was perfect for long walks with the dog in the early morning and evening. The home was clean, well stocked, and had a cozy charm that made it feel familiar. The kids all had space to lounge around and play video games and watch tv when we weren’t adventuring. Sandy was lovely to work with and her suggestions for food, ice cream and local activities were perfect. The other neighbors were quiet and nice and my kids adored a super sweet neighborhood cat they befriended. 10/10 would stay again and recommend to a friend.

Beach house close to the lake! Sandy was a great host, quick to respond and even bought us some bakery for when we arrived. House is exactly as described and is a great value for the price. You can see the lake from the front door and there is a bench close by to sit down and enjoy the view. I plan on staying here again

A great place to spend a long vacation! Quiet and comfortable, I highly recommend staying at the quiet house on the lake. Close enough to the Canadian border without actually being in a big hotel. 30 to 40 minutes away.
